Peugeot Deutschland Updates 2026 Rifter with New Powertrains and Safety Compliance
Edited by: Tetiana Pin
PEUGEOT Deutschland GmbH formally announced expanded specifications for the 2026 model year PEUGEOT Rifter on February 4, 2026, operating from its Rüsselsheim am Main headquarters. The product refresh focuses on broadening powertrain choices and integrating updated standard and optional equipment packages into the compact van, according to Silke Ripplinger, Head of Press and Public Relations for the German division. This strategic update aims to maintain the Rifter's market position by balancing modern technology with its established utility reputation.
The expanded engine lineup now incorporates new diesel and petrol variants alongside the existing electric offering, with all combustion engines confirmed to comply with the stringent Euro 6e-bis emission standard. The electric E-Rifter retains its 100 kW (136 PS) output and a certified WLTP range of up to 339 kilometers. For high-mileage users, the 1.5 BlueHDi diesel engine returns to the lineup, offering 100 hp or 130 hp outputs; the higher output version can be paired with an optional eight-speed automatic transmission, while the lower output version features a standard six-speed manual gearbox.
A primary driver for these model year revisions is compliance with forthcoming European Union safety mandates. The Driver Attention Warning system is now standard on the ALLURE trim level, aligning with the GSRV2.2 directive, which requires its inclusion on all new EU vehicles starting July 1, 2026, to mitigate accidents related to driver fatigue. Furthermore, the E-Rifter is being future-proofed with a standard 11 kW on-board charger, enabling Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality capable of powering external devices up to 3 kW, a feature being integrated across the Stellantis electric range.
Pricing reflects the range of technological and powertrain configurations. The entry-level petrol 110 ALLURE (L1) variant starts at 26,670 Euros. Diesel models are positioned in a mid-range bracket, with starting prices ranging from 27,270 Euros up to 31,170 Euros for higher-specification versions. In contrast, the electric E-Rifter, available in ALLURE and GT trims, commands a higher starting price of 38,220 Euros.
The Rifter maintains its fundamental appeal as a multi-purpose vehicle based on a van architecture, offering significant practicality through features like sliding rear doors and a flat second-row floor that accommodates three adults. Its utility is underscored by a substantial loading capacity, which can expand from 775 liters up to 4,000 liters depending on configuration. While its interior design prioritizes usability, incorporating i-Cockpit elements, its core value proposition remains its immense interior space and utility, often surpassing similarly priced compact SUVs in sheer capacity.
