DeepL Expands Language Capabilities with Official Support for Luxembourgish
Author: Veronika Radoslavskaya
In early January 2026, DeepL announced a strategic update to its translation platform, officially integrating Luxembourgish into its ecosystem. While the company surpassed the milestone of 100 supported languages in late 2025, this latest addition is particularly significant as it completes DeepL's coverage of all 24 official languages of the European Union.
Strategic Importance for the EU By adding Luxembourgish (currently in Beta), DeepL has removed one of the last remaining linguistic friction points for businesses and public institutions operating in the Grand Duchy. This integration allows for seamless, high-accuracy communication within Luxembourg’s unique multilingual environment, where Luxembourgish, French, and German coexist in official and daily use.
Powered by Next-Gen AI The inclusion of Luxembourgish is supported by DeepL’s next-generation Large Language Model (LLM) technology. This architecture ensures that even for languages with smaller datasets, the translation maintains the nuance and context-awareness for which DeepL is known. The company continues to refine its "Beta" languages based on enterprise feedback to ensure they meet professional standards.
Availability The new language is immediately available across the entire DeepL suite, including:
- DeepL Translator (Web and Desktop apps)
- DeepL API (for enterprise integration)
- DeepL for iOS and Android
This update reinforces DeepL’s position as the preferred Language AI partner for European enterprises, prioritizing depth of quality and regional relevance alongside its global expansion.
