The acclaimed travel and food documentary program, "Pinas Sarap," has received the Philippine Tourism Excellence Award for Travel Show at the Department of Tourism's inaugural Philippine Tourism Awards. The ceremony took place on September 8 at Okada Manila, celebrating significant contributions to the nation's travel industry.
Hosted by broadcast journalist Kara David, "Pinas Sarap" explores the Philippines' rich culinary heritage, featuring time-honored recipes and contemporary food trends. The program highlights sustainable practices in the communities it visits and provides a platform for regions to share their unique culinary narratives with a global audience.
The Philippine Tourism Awards recognized 51 Pillar Awardees and 32 Tourism Industry Awardees across various categories for their impact on Philippine tourism. "Pinas Sarap," now in its eighth year, continues its mission to illuminate the Philippines' food, history, and culture, promising further culinary adventures.
This accolade coincides with a strong performance in the tourism sector, with revenues reaching approximately P760 billion in 2024, an increase attributed to effective pro-tourism policies. Additionally, the Philippines is preparing to host the First UN Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism for Asia and the Pacific, underscoring its dedication to advancing gastronomy tourism.
Viewers can watch "Pinas Sarap" every Saturday on GTV, with international broadcasts available on GMA Life TV.
