Denza, the premium electric vehicle brand under BYD Group, has confirmed the official launch of its flagship model, the Z9GT, in Europe. The introduction event is scheduled for April 8, 2026, at the Palais Garnier in Paris, France. This debut signifies a strategic move by Denza to compete directly with established luxury automotive manufacturers in the European market, including Porsche and Mercedes-Benz.

The Z9GT is engineered as a Grand Tourer wagon, or shooting brake, built upon the dedicated e3 architecture developed specifically for Denza. Central to its market proposition is the BYD Flash Charging technology, powered by the second-generation Blade Battery. This system is designed to mitigate consumer concerns regarding lengthy charging times, a significant barrier to wider electric vehicle adoption. The technology operates under the principle: “Ready in 5, Full in 9, Cold Add 3.”

Specific performance metrics for Flash Charging indicate the system can replenish the battery from 10% to 70% in just five minutes, and reach 97% capacity in nine minutes under normal conditions. Even in extreme cold, such as temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius, charging from 20% to 97% is claimed to take only 12 minutes. This rapid energy replenishment brings the charging experience closer to that of refueling a conventional vehicle.

Technically, the Z9GT utilizes an enhanced second-generation Lithium Ferro-Phosphate (LFP) Blade Battery, with certain variants reaching a capacity of 122.5 kWh. This enables the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version to achieve a CLTC range of 1,036 kilometers, which is estimated to translate to between 800 kilometers and 863 kilometers under the stricter WLTP cycle. For performance, the RWD variant produces 496 horsepower (370 kW) from a single electric motor, while the top-tier tri-motor all-wheel-drive configuration delivers a combined output exceeding 1,140 horsepower (approximately 850 kW), facilitating a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of just 2.7 seconds.

The underlying e3 platform, developed over five years by more than 6,000 R&D personnel at a cost of CNY 5 billion, integrates the powertrain, control systems, and vehicle intelligence. This architecture supports unique functionalities such as independent rear-wheel steering and a “crab walk” capability. Complementing its technical specifications, Denza has emphasized interior luxury, featuring an immersive sound system developed in collaboration with French audio specialist Devialet, intended to replicate an “opera house” experience.
