Honor Unveils Revolutionary Robot Phone and Humanoid Assistant Ahead of MWC 2026

Ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona, Chinese electronics giant Honor has showcased a suite of conceptual and near-commercial devices. These innovations represent a fusion of advanced robotics and multimodal artificial intelligence. The centerpiece of the presentation, held just before the congress scheduled for March 2–5, 2026, was the "Robot Phone." This device is being marketed as a pioneering category of smartphone under the company’s "Augmented Human Intelligence" (AHI) strategic framework.
The defining characteristic of the Robot Phone is its mechanical three-axis stabilization system, or gimbal, which offers four degrees of freedom (4DoF). This hardware houses a high-resolution 200-megapixel primary camera. The sophisticated system enables the camera to physically track subjects, perform nodding motions, or even synchronize its movements with music. Such capabilities facilitate advanced features like AI Video Calls that can maintain optimal angles regardless of movement. To achieve this, Honor engineered a proprietary micromotor that is reportedly 70% smaller than existing industry standards. Furthermore, the device's chassis boasts a remarkable strength of 2800 MPa, developed with a simulation precision of 0.001 mm.
In a significant move to enhance its imaging capabilities, Honor announced a strategic technical collaboration with Munich-based ARRI, a legendary name in professional cinematography. This partnership is designed to embed ARRI’s renowned cinematic color science directly into the smartphone’s image processing pipeline. James Li Jian, the CEO of Honor, emphasized that the objective is to translate the visual standards and workflows that have defined the film industry for generations into a consumer-grade device. This marks the first instance where ARRI has integrated its specialized image science directly into a product of this nature.
Beyond the mobile hardware, the Chinese manufacturer also debuted its first humanoid robot assistant, which impressed the Barcelona audience with a display of dancing and backflips. Intended for roles in retail assistance or as a personal companion, this robot is a key component of Honor’s broader pivot toward AI-driven hardware. This shift is supported by a massive $10 billion investment plan spanning five years. CEO James Li noted that the Robot Phone aims to "give AI a body and soul," with a commercial launch slated for the second half of 2026, initially focusing on the Chinese market.
The Barcelona event also served as a platform for announcing the Magic V6 foldable phone, the MagicPad 4 tablet, and the MagicBook Pro 14 laptop, further expanding the AHI-powered ecosystem. These technological leaps come at a time of shifting market dynamics for the brand. Data from 2025 reveals a contrast in performance: while Honor's shipments in China saw a 12.6% decline, the company experienced a 4% growth in the European market. According to Omdia, Honor now holds the fifth position in Europe with a 3% market share. By integrating robotic components and partnering with ARRI, Honor is attempting to redefine smartphone hardware by emphasizing physical interaction and cinematic content quality.
