Nubia Fold in 2026

ZTE has formally introduced its first book-style foldable smartphone, the Nubia Fold, into the Japanese market, launching it concurrently with the Nubia Flip 3 model. This strategic entry positions the Nubia brand directly into the competitive segment of foldable electronics, where innovation in form factor and power endurance is a key factor for consumer adoption.

The Nubia Fold is centered around a substantial 8-inch internal OLED screen, which features a 2480 x 2200 pixel resolution, ensuring visual clarity for media and applications. This main display is complemented by a 6.5-inch external OLED panel, offering a 2748 x 1172 pixel resolution for interactions without fully unfolding the device. Both displays support a 120 Hz refresh rate, a standard feature in premium mobile hardware that contributes to fluid user interaction.

A critical differentiator for the device upon its debut is its 6560 mAh battery, which established a record for the largest capacity among foldable devices, supported by 55W fast charging capability. This significant power reserve is managed by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a flagship processor built on a 3nm process technology, which is paired with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, running on the Android 15 operating system.

The device's physical specifications include a closed thickness of 11.1 mm, unfolding to 5.4 mm, and a weight of 249 grams, while also carrying an IP54 rating for protection against dust and water splashes. The optical system features a triple-module rear setup: a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5-megapixel macro sensor. For self-capture, the device incorporates two 20-megapixel modules, one under the internal screen and one in the external display.

The commercial debut for the Nubia Fold was scheduled for December 4, 2025, exclusively in Japan, priced at approximately $1145, equivalent to 178,560 Japanese yen, offered in a black colorway. ZTE projects a broader, global release for the device to commence in 2026, signaling a phased market entry. This launch occurs as the Japanese foldable market is projected to expand significantly, with the 'fold' form factor segment registering the fastest growth within the sector.
