Lamborghini Temerario GT3 Debuts at Sebring Amid R D Strategy Focus
Edited by: Tetiana Pin
The all-new Lamborghini Temerario GT3 race car completed its competitive debut at the demanding 12 Hours of Sebring in Florida, marking a key moment for the manufacturer's Squadra Corse motorsport division. Piloted by the Pfaff Motorsports team in the GTD Pro class, the car finished the punishing endurance event in tenth place, completing approximately 320 laps.
This debut followed an extensive development program, which included an IMSA-sanctioned endurance test at Sebring covering over 2,400 kilometers with minimal reported issues, alongside earlier track time at Vallelunga in August. The Temerario GT3 represents a strategic evolution, being the first racing vehicle designed and built entirely in-house by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, succeeding the Huracán GT3, which achieved over 200 victories across its decade-long tenure.
The new racer utilizes a race-tuned, four-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, notably omitting the hybrid system present in its road-going counterpart, and is paired with a six-speed transverse gearbox. This concurrent design process with the road car led to divergences, such as the removal of electrical assistance and the adoption of a longer wheelbase and wider track for improved cornering stability over the outgoing model.
Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann positioned the Sebring event as a vital initial test bench to benchmark the new platform against established competitors, underscoring that motorsport is now integral to the brand’s identity and research and development synergy benefiting street-legal models. This strategic commitment is evident as Lamborghini completed the hybridization of its core lineup, including the Revuelto and Urus SE, positioning the brand to have a fully hybridized range entering 2026.
The company's financial performance in 2025 provided the foundation for these long-term investments, recording record revenue of €3.2 billion, an increase of 3.3% year-on-year, from 10,747 global vehicle deliveries. Operating income for 2025 settled at €768 million, with the operating margin decreasing to 24% from 27% in 2024, attributed to external pressures such as US tariffs and negative exchange-rate movements. Despite the margin compression, 2025 marked Lamborghini’s second most profitable year historically, supported by high-margin vehicles and the success of its personalization options, with 94% of 2025 deliveries featuring at least one element from the Ad Personam program.
The Temerario GT3’s competitive schedule continues with its next appearance set for the opening round of the GT World Challenge Europe at Paul Ricard in April 2026, while factory support for the Huracán GT3 will continue through the end of the 2026 season.
