Fashion Counterfeit Trade Reaches $467 Billion Globally in 2025: OECD Report

Edited by: Екатерина С.

The global trade in counterfeit goods has reached approximately $467 billion in 2021, accounting for 2.3% of total global imports. A recent report from the OECD highlights that fashion, including clothing, footwear, and luxury items, remains one of the most affected sectors.

According to OECD data, fashion items constitute a significant portion of the global counterfeit trade. Clothing and footwear are among the most counterfeited items. These fake goods, often originating from China and Hong Kong, pose risks to consumer safety and intellectual property.

The European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) has been actively involved in operations targeting the smuggling of counterfeit fashion items into the European Union. These operations have led to the seizure of millions of fake garments and accessories, preventing them from reaching consumers.
