The Zoobotanical Park of Bahia, or Salvador Zoo, has reopened to the public in 2025, showcasing exciting new features after recent renovations. Closed for visitation since the Carnival break (February 22nd to March 6th), the zoo has undergone numerous improvements, including the highly anticipated Paleontological Site and the revitalization of the aviary.
The Paleontological Site features replicas such as a Tyrannosaurus Rex (T-Rex) and skeletons of marine mammals discovered along the Bahian coast. The revamped Aviary, which had been closed for six years, now allows visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Brazilian birds. The zoo houses 1,400 animals, including reptiles, mammals and small felines.
The zoo is open from 9 AM to 5 PM, with free admission. These renovations, supported by approximately R$ 3.5 million from the State Fund of Resources for the Environment (Ferfa), aim to provide a more comfortable and enriching experience for both visitors and animals. The Primate Island is also nearing completion, promising a revitalized space for its inhabitants.
