Elon Musk Expands Lawsuit Against OpenAI and Microsoft for Alleged Antitrust Practices

Elon Musk has intensified his legal battle against OpenAI and Microsoft, accusing them of monopolizing the generative AI market. The updated lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, includes new allegations of anti-competitive practices and adds Microsoft as a defendant.

Musk claims that OpenAI has shifted from a non-profit organization to a profit-driven entity, primarily serving Microsoft’s interests. He alleges that this partnership has allowed OpenAI to unfairly benefit from Microsoft's resources, while stifling competition from his own AI company, xAI.

According to the lawsuit, OpenAI is actively trying to eliminate rivals like xAI by sharing sensitive information with investors and restricting their funding options. Musk's complaint states that without his initial support, OpenAI would not have existed, highlighting his contributions of over $44 million and key executive recruitment.

The lawsuit seeks to ensure that OpenAI adheres to its original mission of developing safe and open AI for the public good. Musk's legal team argues that the relationship between OpenAI and Microsoft has effectively created a monopoly in the AI sector.

As of now, Musk remains the world's richest person, with a net worth estimated at $307 billion.
