神舟二十号任务的航天员乘组于2025年6月成功进行了第二次舱外活动，此次任务的重点是升级天宫空间站的机械臂，以增强其功能和效率。此次升级对于空间站未来的维护和组装任务至关重要。
此次升级任务由指令长陈东和航天员陈中瑞执行，王杰在舱内提供支持。他们成功完成了机械臂的升级工作，进一步提升了机械臂在空间站外部的操作能力。天宫空间站的机械臂能够抓取和操作重达20吨的物体，并能在空间站外部移动，其技术已在多次任务中得到验证和提升。神舟二十号任务的成功执行，是中国在太空探索领域不断壮大的实力的体现。目前，神舟二十号乘组已完成任务的一半，正稳步推进各项空间科学实验，包括太空生命科学、微重力基础物理、空间材料科学、空间医学以及先进航天技术等领域的研究。截至2025年8月16日，神舟二十号乘组仍在天宫空间站执行任务，持续为空间站的科学技术进步做出贡献。
