Kendrick Lamar Dominates Billboard with Record Sales and Upcoming Super Bowl Performance

Kendrick Lamar has made a significant impact on the music scene, debuting at number one on the Billboard albums chart with his latest release, GNX, selling 319,000 equivalent units in its first week. This marks another milestone in Lamar's illustrious career, as he previously topped the Billboard charts with multiple albums including Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers (2022) and DAMN. (2017).

In addition to his album success, Lamar has also achieved two number one spots on the Billboard Hot 100 with his singles Not Like Us and Like That, the latter featuring Future and Metro Boomin.

His upcoming performance as a headliner at the Super Bowl halftime show on February 9, 2025, in New Orleans is highly anticipated.

In the Billboard 200, the Wicked: The Soundtrack has debuted at number two with 139,000 equivalent units sold, featuring performances from Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. This is a notable achievement as it marks the first time in over 21 years that a soundtrack from a stage musical has reached the top five.

Following closely, Sabrina Carpenter's Short n' Sweet climbs to third place with 69,000 units sold, while Tyler, the Creator's Chromakopia drops to fourth with 61,000 units. Billie Eilish rounds out the top five with Hit Me Hard and Soft, selling 50,000 equivalent units.
