US and Japan to Discuss Bolstering Foreign Investment and Defense Cooperation

President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba will discuss bolstering foreign investment in the US, including cooperation on defense, artificial intelligence, semiconductors and cybersecurity, according to senior administration officials.

The senior administration officials offered the details on condition of anonymity Friday, ahead of upcoming talks between Trump and Ishiba. The Japanese premier is visiting Washington for his first meeting with the US president in a bid to shore up economic and defense links between the major allies.
