Google's Gemini Integrates Spotify for Enhanced Music Control

Google is enhancing its Gemini chatbot by integrating Spotify, allowing users to control music playback through natural language commands. This marks Gemini's second third-party integration, following WhatsApp.

With the Spotify extension, users can request specific songs, albums, or playlists by simply asking Gemini. The AI is designed to interpret requests based on artist names, lyrics, or even moods, potentially offering a more intuitive experience compared to the previous Google Assistant.

To use this feature, users must link their Spotify account to their Google Account. The extension currently works only on the Gemini Android app and requires English as the language setting. Notably, on-demand song playback is limited to Spotify Premium subscribers.

This integration follows the recent addition of Google Home to Gemini, which allows users to create automations. The rollout of the Spotify feature appears to be gradual, with some users still waiting for access.
