Disney Announces Live-Action Adaptation of 'Tangled' Set for Future Release

Disney continues its trend of reviving animated classics with a new live-action adaptation of 'Tangled.' Originally released in 2010, the animated film directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard garnered over $591 million at the box office and remains a fan favorite.

'Tangled' tells the story of Rapunzel, a young woman with magical long hair, who has spent her life locked in a tower until a runaway thief changes her fate. The film featured the voices of Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider.

While the cast for the new adaptation has yet to be announced, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, known for her work on 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' and 'Thor: Love and Thunder,' will pen the script. Meanwhile, Michael Gracey, director of 'The Greatest Showman,' is in talks to helm the project.

In addition to 'Tangled,' Disney has several live-action adaptations in the pipeline, including 'Mufasa: The Lion King,' scheduled for release on December 19, and new versions of 'Lilo & Stitch' and 'Moana,' promising fresh visual interpretations of these beloved stories.
