The advertising and marketing industry in India is experiencing a 9% increase in hiring intent, according to the latest Career Outlook Report HY2 by TeamLease Edtech. This growth reflects the influence of digital platforms, e-commerce, and data-driven marketing strategies.
Creative and advertising agencies are adapting to these trends, particularly in sectors like FMCG, automotive, consumer durables, real estate, and tourism, which are enhancing consumer engagement through superior targeting and cost-effectiveness.
Jaideep Kewalramani, COO of TeamLease Edtech, stated, 'We are living in a digital-first world where students aggressively investing in emerging marketing skills will unlock unprecedented career opportunities.'
The report emphasizes the high demand for roles such as SEO executives, market research assistants, and social media specialists. Agencies, accounting for 60% of entry-level roles, are driving this hiring momentum, especially in Mumbai and Bangalore.
Furthermore, Kraftshala's Digital Marketing Trends Report 2024 notes that agencies hire five times more entry-level talent compared to brands, highlighting their reliance on fresh talent. Additionally, programmatic ads constituted 88% of digital ad impressions in India from January to June 2024, indicating a growing need for technical expertise.
The emphasis on digital marketing and content creation underscores the importance of both technical skills, such as SEO and marketing analytics, and soft skills like creativity and collaboration. Agencies must invest in training and mentorship to effectively bridge skill gaps and meet evolving client expectations.
