Tesla Unveils Autonomous Vehicles and Robots at 'We, Robot' Event in Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA - Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed the company's latest innovations in autonomous vehicle technology during the 'We, Robot' event at Warner Bros. Studios on October 11, 2024.

The presentation showcased new self-driving Robotaxis and Robovans, highlighting a departure from traditional vehicle designs. Musk announced that the Robotaxi, priced under $30,000, will enter production in 2026, aiming for a safer and more affordable transportation option.

With a focus on artificial intelligence and computer vision, Musk claimed these vehicles will be 10 to 30 times safer than human drivers. Tesla plans to roll out fully autonomous driving capabilities for its existing Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in California and Texas by 2025.

The Robovan, designed to transport up to 20 people or cargo, expands Tesla's reach into public transit and logistics. Additionally, Tesla's Optimus robots, projected to cost between $20,000 and $30,000, were demonstrated performing tasks like dancing and bartending.

Musk envisions a future where widespread adoption of these technologies leads to an 'age of abundance,' significantly reducing costs for goods and services. However, regulatory challenges remain, particularly regarding the absence of traditional vehicle controls.
