Find Your Furry Twin: AI Matches People with Shelter Dogs in South Korea!

A heartwarming campaign in South Korea is using AI to help shelter dogs find their forever homes! Cheil Worldwide and the popular YouTube dog character, "King ddangkong," created "My Dog Twin." This innovative system matches people with shelter dogs who share similar looks and personalities.

With 80,000 dogs abandoned each year in South Korea, especially during holidays, "My Dog Twin" aims to raise awareness and encourage adoption. The idea is simple: people often prefer dogs that resemble them.

Just upload a selfie to the "My Dog Twin" website. The AI then analyzes facial features, expressions, and even poses to find a shelter dog match. Round cheeks might be matched with fluffy jowls, or a thoughtful expression with a calm, older dog. The results show the dog's name, age, characteristics, and a similarity score. It even explains why you're a perfect match! A button allows for immediate adoption inquiries. Sharing your match on social media also triggers a donation to KoreanDogsSanctuary Rescue.

"We are bridging the fictional world with the real world with My Dog Twin, hoping to make a good opportunity for shelter dogs to meet new families," said Hyekyung Jeong, creative director, Cheil Worldwide.

In just two weeks, over 20,000 people have used "My Dog Twin." The campaign runs until March 31st and is promoted on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
