Sunny days are here for Glen Koshko and his newly adopted dog, Blaze. After being evacuated from the wildfires in Los Angeles, Blaze has found a forever home in San Diego.
Glen, whose children are older now, felt a wave of nostalgia when he decided to adopt a puppy. Originally named Shadow, Blaze was renamed to reflect his origins from the fire in LA. Glen wanted to make a difference and felt adopting a dog was the best way to help.
Along with Blaze, 38 other dogs and one kitten were brought from the Pasadena Humane Society to San Diego. This move aimed to create space in shelters affected by the wildfires. So far, four dogs, including Blaze, have been adopted, while 13 more are available for adoption.
Nina Thompson from the San Diego Humane Society expressed gratitude for the community's support, stating that the response has been heartwarming. The organization is also running an adoption initiative from January 15th to 26th to help clear local shelters and accommodate more animals from LA.
Glen shared that Blaze is settling in well and is very friendly. He encourages others to consider adopting, saying, 'If you have the ability to do it and the want to do it, you should do it.' Blaze has already made their house feel like a home.
