Zurich Film Festival Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Golden Eye Awards on October 14, 2024

The Zurich Film Festival, held from October 3 to 13, marked its 20th edition with a vibrant mix of film screenings, guest appearances, and a newly established festival center at Sechseläutenplatz. Artistic director Christian Jungen expressed pride in delivering an "unforgettable" anniversary that showcased the festival's outstanding international reputation and strong local support.

Claiming to be the second largest film festival in the German-speaking world, the event has elevated its standards of professionalism and excellence, according to festival president Roger Crotti. The new festival center has been pivotal in this transformation.

The festival awarded two prestigious Golden Eye prizes: Rungano Nynyi won in the feature film category for her comedy On Becoming a Guinea Fowl, while Shiori Ito took home the documentary award for Black Box Diaries, which addresses the issue of sexual violence in Japan. Both directors were celebrated for their impactful storytelling, further solidifying the festival's role in promoting important global narratives.
