61st Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival Celebrates Cinema with Honor and Achievement Awards on October 5, 2024

The 61st International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival kicked off on October 5, 2024, at the Cam Piramit Congress Center, hosted by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. The opening ceremony, presented by Sedef Avcı, honored veteran actors Erdal Özyağcılar, Selçuk Yöntem, Şerif Sezer, Müjdat Gezen, and Işıl Yücesoy with honorary awards. Rising stars Aras Bulut İynemli and Farah Zeynep Abdullah received achievement awards.

Festival President Muhittin Böcek shared his personal connection to the festival, reminiscing about his childhood experiences with cinema in Antalya. He emphasized the importance of the Golden Orange as a cultural landmark, stating, "For me, the Golden Orange is a dream turned real with a cinema machine. It represents our childhood, hope, and success."

Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin highlighted the significance of the film industry, calling it a cornerstone of culture that needs support, especially after the setbacks faced during the pandemic.

During the ceremony, Saadet Işıl Aksoy, this year’s host, expressed her grief over the ongoing issue of violence against women, dedicating her award to those affected. The night concluded with performances, including a rap collaboration by Iynemli.
