EU Reports Modest Aid Increase to Gaza Amid Persistent Challenges

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

The European Union has reported a slight increase in humanitarian aid access to Gaza as of August 7, 2025, following an agreement with Israel. Between July 29 and August 4, 2025, 463 trucks were offloaded at crossing points into the Gaza Strip. However, significant obstacles continue to hinder large-scale humanitarian operations, with the EU noting that the lack of a secure environment for aid distribution remains a critical limitation.

Israel has announced plans to gradually permit goods to enter Gaza through local merchants, a move approved by the Israeli Cabinet. This initiative aims to increase the volume of essential supplies and reduce reliance on international organizations. Approved items include basic food staples, baby formula, fresh produce, and hygiene products, with all transactions to be conducted via bank transfers for transparency. Despite these efforts, the overall humanitarian situation remains dire, with the number of entering trucks still below agreed-upon levels and the daily need estimated at around 600 trucks.
