Turkey and EU Held Third High-Level Dialogue on Migration and Security

Istanbul, July 1, 2025 – In Istanbul, the third high-level dialogue between Turkey and the European Union on migration and security was held.

The meeting took place with the participation of Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya and EU Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner. The main topics of discussion were the process of obtaining Schengen visas by Turkish citizens, the situation in Syria, and cooperation in the field of security.

Turkey, being an EU candidate country, confirmed its readiness for close cooperation with the European Union based on mutual interests. Special attention was paid to the issues of visa liberalization and ensuring conditions for the safe and voluntary return of Syrian refugees.

The dialogue also addressed joint efforts to combat cross-border organized crime, illegal migration, and terrorism, underscoring the importance of strengthening cooperation between the EU and Turkey in ensuring regional security and stability.
