Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - June 2025 - A coalition of Malaysian civil society organizations, led by the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM), launched a "Thousand Ship Flotilla" campaign.

The initiative aims to break Israel's 17-year blockade of the Gaza Strip by sending vessels carrying humanitarian aid. The flotilla is described as the largest maritime mobilization of its kind, with coordination involving groups in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.

The flotilla's goals include breaking the Israeli blockade, delivering humanitarian supplies, and pressuring governments to protect participants. MAPIM has established an international secretariat and a financial fund to support the initiative, amid frustration over the ongoing situation in Gaza.
