Paris, France - May 13, 2025 - Malaysia urged the international community to strengthen cooperation in addressing the global water crisis at the Global Water Summit 2025, held in Paris. Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof emphasized the critical need for strategic partnerships and coordinated policy actions to secure a sustainable water future.

Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), shared Malaysia's progressive approach to sustainable water management, highlighting reforms that transitioned the country from fragmented state governance to a coordinated federal-state partnership. He reaffirmed Malaysia's commitment to offering its expertise as a model for countries facing similar water security issues and invited global innovators to invest in water technologies.

Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) Sdn Bhd CEO Narendran Maniam stated that resource recovery has shifted from a discretionary measure to a policy imperative, driven by the pressing need to enhance environmental resilience and ensure sustainable resource management amid escalating economic and ecological pressures. The Global Water Summit 2025, taking place May 12-14, gathered high-level executives from industry, municipalities, and international water companies.
