Latvia Bans Entry for Russian Citizens with Property Near Strategic Sites

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

Latvia has banned entry to Russian citizens who own property near strategically important sites. The Latvian State Security Service (SGB) conducted checks on Russians who have purchased or built residential and commercial properties near locations critical to national security. These individuals will be added to a list of people undesirable for entry into the country. Latvia had already tightened entry rules for Russians in April. Since September 1, those entering must provide detailed information 48 hours before arrival, including their purpose of visit, length of stay, routes, accommodation, employment details, and connections to state or military positions. Violations can result in fines up to 2,000 euros.
