Contemporary Amperex Technology Company (CATL) is expanding its influence in green energy with its CharGo unit, focusing on mobile EV charging solutions in 2025. CATL aims to deploy between 5,000 and 15,000 mobile EV charging robots globally over the next two years.

CharGo plans to initially penetrate over 100 cities in China. The company expects to enter overseas markets by the second half of 2026, targeting Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

Market Potential

China's mobile EV charging robot market is projected to reach 50 billion yuan (US$6.9 billion) by 2030, capturing at least 20% of the country's overall EV charging market. CATL's expansion into charging robots represents a strategic shift to diversify its revenue streams beyond battery manufacturing.

Financial Performance

In the first quarter of 2025, CATL reported a 32.85% year-on-year jump in net profit, reaching 13.96 billion yuan (US$1.92 billion). Revenue rose 6.2% to 84.7 billion yuan (US$11.59 billion), marking a strong start to the year.
