Mozilla to shut down Pocket app in July 2025

Mozilla is discontinuing its Pocket app, a read-it-later service, on July 8, 2025. The company will shift resources to projects aligning better with user browsing habits. The app will be removed from app stores on May 22, 2025. Users can reinstall the app until October 8, 2025. After this date, users must manually delete the app. After July 8, Pocket will transition to export-only mode, allowing users to export saved items until October 8, 2025. Mozilla states that web usage has evolved, prompting the change. Premium subscriptions will be canceled automatically. Annual subscribers will receive prorated refunds after July 8, 2025, based on the remaining subscription time.
