Realme GT 8 Pro Launches with Ricoh Imaging Collaboration and Modular Camera

Edited by: Tetiana Pin

The Realme GT 8 Pro smartphone officially began its global rollout in China on October 21, 2025, signaling a notable integration of mobile hardware with established imaging expertise. This debut precedes its scheduled market entry in India on November 20, 2025, followed by a European release on November 24, 2025. The flagship device establishes a strategic alliance with Ricoh Imaging, incorporating advanced photographic features directly inspired by the Ricoh GR series of compact cameras.

This partnership aims to integrate the 'film-like authenticity' valued by street photographers into the mobile experience, a goal articulated by Realme's Vice President and CMO, Chase Xu, and Ricoh Imaging's General Manager of the Camera Business Division, Kazunobu Saiki. The imaging system centers on a 50-megapixel primary sensor featuring a 7P lens structure and a five-layer anti-reflective coating designed to minimize lens flare and internal shadowing. Honoring the Ricoh heritage, the dedicated Ricoh GR Mode offers two classic focal lengths, 28mm and 40mm, alongside five distinct film-style color profiles: Positive, Negative, High Contrast Black and White, Standard, and Monotone.

A distinguishing hardware feature is the GT 8 Pro's industry-first modular camera design, which permits users to physically exchange the rear camera module to alter the device's aesthetic, with Realme inviting community design submissions through platforms like MakerWorld. Complementing the main sensor is a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, built on a 1/1.56-inch sensor, supporting 3x optical zoom and up to 12x lossless zoom. The array is completed by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera offering a 116-degree field of view, an improvement over the preceding GT 7 Pro model. For high-resolution video, the device supports 4K at 120fps with Dolby Vision on both the main and telephoto lenses, in addition to 8K at 30fps recording.

The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a high-end System on a Chip (SoC) introduced late in 2025. This processor integrates a third-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU with two Prime Cores clocked up to 4.6 GHz, positioning it as a top performer at its release. The chipset also includes the Qualcomm X85 5G Modem-RF System, capable of peak download speeds up to 12.5 Gbit/s. The synergy between this SoC and the custom R1 graphics chip is intended to ensure efficient performance for demanding tasks and gaming. The GT 8 Pro also incorporates a substantial 7,000mAh battery with 120W wired charging support.

Realme's strategic objective, previously outlined at MWC 2025, includes doubling its global user base within three years and strengthening its position in the mid-to-high-end market, with the GT Series designated as the 'Next-Level Performance Flagship with AI.' The GT 8 Pro, through its bespoke Ricoh optics, customizable physical structure, and advanced processing capabilities, represents a concrete execution of this strategy, offering a compelling option for users prioritizing authentic imaging characteristics within a mobile platform.
