Booster Robotics Unveils K1 Humanoid Robot: Capable of Moonwalking and Household Tasks
Edited by: Tetiana Pin
Booster Robotics, a Beijing-based firm established in 2023, recently pulled back the curtain on its latest innovation: the K1 humanoid robot. The official launch event took place in Beijing on Friday, October 24, 2025. This device is being marketed not merely as a technological showcase but as a practical tool ready for integration into both educational environments and everyday domestic life.
Standing 95 cm tall and weighing 19.5 kg, the K1 demonstrated a diverse array of skills during its presentation. Attendees watched as the robot executed precise soccer passes and even flawlessly replicated Michael Jackson’s iconic "moonwalk" dance move. Furthermore, Booster Robotics highlighted the K1’s utility in household chores, showcasing its ability to water indoor plants and efficiently retrieve lost keys from a locked safe.
The sophisticated engineering underpinning the K1 ensures its high degree of functionality and realistic movement. The robot is equipped with 22 degrees of freedom (DoF), granting it exceptional agility, dynamic walking capabilities, and superior balance maintenance. Powering the system is an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX processor (8 GB), which delivers up to 117 TOPS of computing power. This robust processing capacity is essential for handling complex artificial intelligence tasks, such as reinforcement learning and advanced object recognition. Regarding endurance, the K1 boasts a maximum operational time of 30 hours under peak load, although continuous walking reduces the runtime to between 50 minutes and 1 hour 20 minutes.
Booster Robotics, which also produces the T1 model primarily used for scientific research, is aggressively pursuing global expansion. General Manager Chen Hao outlined the company’s ambitious plans for international collaboration, specifically targeting the markets of Europe, the Middle East, and both North and South America. The company already employs specialists dedicated to overseeing operations in the Russian and European regions. Leveraging Beijing’s technological support, Booster Robotics has already secured significant accolades: in July 2025, the company’s robots achieved first place at the prestigious RoboCup World Championship held in Brazil. This victory included the gold medal secured by the Tsinghua University's Fire God team in the AdultSize division, serving as powerful validation of the firm’s sophisticated motion control algorithms.
For consumers in the domestic Chinese market, the K1 is currently available for approximately 30,000 yuan, which translates to roughly $4,000 USD, and sales have already commenced. Since its founding in 2023, the company reports having shipped over 700 robots worldwide. The K1 platform is designed with flexibility in mind, offering support for both ROS2 and Python. This open architecture makes it a highly appealing solution for developers keen on shaping the future of automation through their own innovative projects. Booster Robotics views products like the K1 as pivotal catalysts for deepening the study and understanding of human-machine interaction.
