Google Launches New AI-Powered Chromebooks

Google has unveiled two new Chromebooks, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus and a refreshed Lenovo Chromebook Duet, both featuring advanced Generative AI tools powered by Gemini.

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus, equipped with a 15.6-inch OLED display, weighs 2.58 pounds and is powered by an Intel Core 3 100U processor. It includes up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD storage, offering 13 hours of battery life. Notably, it features a Quick Insert Key that enables users to access the 'Help Me Write' feature, allowing for text refinement and tone adjustments using Gemini models.

The Quick Insert Key also integrates Google Drive search, facilitating seamless content addition without leaving the writing tab. This feature will expand to more Chromebooks next year, including AI image generation capabilities. The Galaxy Chromebook Plus will be available for $699 starting in October.

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet has been refreshed with an 11-inch display, a MediaTek Kompanio 838 processor, and up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It also includes AI-enhanced camera capabilities and is compatible with the Lenovo USI Pen 2 for artistic use. The device will retail for $339.

Additionally, Google is rolling out new Gemini features, including 'Chat with Gemini' and a complimentary three-month Google One AI Premium plan, providing access to advanced AI tools. All Chromebooks will also receive updates such as Welcome Recap and Focus mode.
