Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her role as Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl, passed away on February 26th at the age of 39. The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner confirmed her death was due to complications from diabetes mellitus. The manner of death was ruled as natural.
Her former Gossip Girl co-star, Penn Badgley, shared his memories of Trachtenberg. He described her as incredibly quick to laugh and having a childlike, joyous laugh. Badgley, who played Dan Humphrey, said he hadn't seen her in over 10 years but remembered her as having a really pure heart.
Blake Lively, who also starred in Gossip Girl, paid tribute to Trachtenberg on Instagram. She described Trachtenberg as "electricity" and said she did everything 200%. Lively emphasized Trachtenberg's loyalty, bravery, and distinct personality.
Ed Westwick, another Gossip Girl alum, remembered Trachtenberg as a talented, sharp, funny, and warm soul. Chace Crawford added that she was one of a kind, a force of nature, and unapologetically funny and magnetic. Her former colleagues expressed their sadness at the terrible loss.
