In Taluka Thari Mir Wah, District Khairpur, a project funded by Malteser International and implemented by the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) is restoring livelihoods.
The "Restoring Livelihoods and Protection against Climate Risks" project has transformed flood-affected lands into thriving green spaces using tunnel farming. Ten low-walking tunnel farms have been established across five union councils.
These farms are managed by women farmers from Village Organizations (VOs), cultivating sponge gourd, bitter gourd, and cucumber. The initiative provides livelihood and empowerment, enabling women to grow produce for household use and sell surplus in local markets.
Improved agriculture and water management practices build climate resilience and secure a better future for families. Tunnel farming has brought economic stability and food security to homes, turning hardship into opportunity.
