The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in Melbourne, Australia, is hosting a major retrospective exhibition dedicated to the work of Paris-based Australian designer Martin Grant. The exhibition, running until January 26, 2026, showcases Grant's 40-year career, from the mid-1980s to the present. Featuring nearly 100 works from the NGV collection and over 40 loans from Grant's archive and private collections, the exhibition provides insights into his creative process through photography, sketches, press clippings, and runway footage. Designs worn by celebrities are highlighted, showcasing Grant's contemporary interpretations of classic wardrobe staples. The exhibition dedicates sections to Grant's eveningwear, outerwear, and historical silhouette reinterpretations. Garments worn by Cate Blanchett, Lee Radziwill, Catherine Baba, Rebel Wilson, and Lady Gaga are displayed alongside editorial and portrait photography. The NGV's director, Tony Ellwood, emphasized Grant's sculptural approach to fashion and the significance of the NGV's collection of his work.
