The future of fashion according to students of the Amsterdam Fashion Institute: DIY, recycling and digital design

Edited by: Екатерина С.

The Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) is showcasing the future of fashion through the eyes of its graduates. Three key trends are emerging: DIY clothing, upcycling, and digital fashion.

Tijn Roozen is designing DIY clothing kits, offering pre-cut fabric, zippers, and buttons for easy assembly. This approach aims to make fashion more sustainable and accessible, moving away from the fast fashion model.

Yasmien Knubben focuses on upcycling, transforming vintage items into new garments. She repurposes materials like old men's suits and carnival items, giving them a new life and reducing waste. This approach emphasizes the value of clothing and encourages a more conscious consumption.

Julia de Beer is exploring digital fashion, creating an entirely online collection. Her designs address societal issues, using clothing as a form of self-expression and a means of regaining control. She envisions technology, like augmented reality, playing a larger role in the industry.

The AMFI graduation show will be part of Future Fest on June 19th. Amsterdam Fashion Week celebrates Amsterdam's anniversary with a catwalk on the Ring on June 21st.
