Edited by: Anna 🌎 Krasko

Severe weather struck Pakistan in May 2025, particularly affecting Punjab province. Following a period of intense heat, storms brought strong winds and heavy rainfall to the region.

The storms resulted in building collapses and other incidents. Initial reports indicated at least eight fatalities and numerous injuries across cities including Jhelum, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. Rescue operations were initiated, and financial assistance was provided to affected families.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had issued warnings for continued thunderstorms and dust storms in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad. Residents were advised to take precautions, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay away from electric poles and unstable structures. The storms uprooted trees and damaged solar panels, further disrupting daily life.
