Earthquake of magnitude 5.3 strikes Sumatra, Indonesia

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck North Sumatra province in western Indonesia on Monday, according to the national meteorology, climatology, and geophysics agency.

The epicenter was located approximately 59 kilometers from the city of Padang, at a depth of 88 kilometers. No tsunami warning was issued, and no immediate reports of damage or casualties were received.

This earthquake follows a magnitude 6 tremor that affected the same region the previous day, also without causing casualties.
