Mexico's Popocatépetl volcano experienced an explosion on April 25th, emitting a significant column of vapor and ash. The event, captured by monitoring cameras, prompted warnings for several regions.
Civil Protection authorities cautioned that prevailing winds could carry ash towards Atlixco-Izúcar de Matamoros, Angelópolis, Mixteca, and Tehuacán. There is a possibility that ash could reach the state of Oaxaca within 12 hours.
The Volcanic Alert Level remains at Yellow Phase 2, advising people to stay at least 12 kilometers away from the crater. The National Center for Disaster Prevention (Cenapred) reported 14 exhalations with emissions of vapor and gas in the last 24 hours.
