Heavy Rainfall Alerts Issued Across India, October 11, 2024

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rainfall across several states, including Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and parts of Northeast India. Today, isolated heavy rain is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.

In Goa, an orange alert has been raised due to the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall, with wind speeds of 35-45 km/h. The IMD has warned residents in low-lying areas to be vigilant and prepared for potential flooding.

Kerala is also on high alert, with expectations of rainfall between 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in districts such as Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Malappuram. Authorities have advised those living near riverbanks and dams to relocate to safer areas.

Meanwhile, in Mumbai, heavy rain has already been reported over the past 24 hours, with continued rainfall anticipated today. The weather department has also predicted light to moderate rain in surrounding areas of Maharashtra.

In contrast, Delhi is experiencing a mild cold with clear skies, where the maximum temperature is expected to reach 35°C. The monsoon is predicted to withdraw from several states, including parts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, in the coming days.
