Amazon Enters Bidding for TikTok Ahead of Deadline; Trump Signals Flexibility

Edited by: Olga Sukhina

Amazon has reportedly made a last-minute bid for TikTok as the deadline for the app to find a U.S. buyer approaches. The bid was submitted via letter to Vice President JD Vance and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. The U.S. government has mandated that TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, sell the app to a non-Chinese entity or face a ban. President Trump has indicated a willingness to extend the deadline if a deal isn't reached by April 5. Other interested parties include Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Perplexity AI, and Steven Mnuchin.
