Honda NSX-R Sells for Over $1 Million at Villa d'Este Auction: Why It's So Special

Edited by: alya myart

A 2003 Honda NSX-R fetched a record-breaking €934,375 (approximately $1.06 million) at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este auction in Italy on May 24-25, 2025. This marks the first time an NSX has surpassed the $1 million mark at auction, underscoring its increasing value among car collectors.

This particular NSX-R, finished in Championship White, is one of only 140 produced between 2002 and 2005. It boasts fewer than 10,000 miles and was recently serviced in 2023. Its rarity and well-maintained condition significantly contributed to the high price.

The NSX-R's appeal lies in its enhanced performance and lightweight design, achieved through meticulous weight reduction and chassis improvements. It features a 3.2-liter V-6 engine producing 290 horsepower and a six-speed manual transaxle. Other features include a red Alcantara interior and white BBS wheels. The NSX-R is celebrated for its exceptional balance, handling, and the pure driving experience it offers, making it a highly desirable collectible.
