Miami celebrated the grand opening of the MSC Miami Cruise Terminal on April 5, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the cruise industry. This state-of-the-art facility, built by Fincantieri Infrastructure, is the largest cruise terminal in the world, spanning 492,678 square feet and capable of accommodating three large ships simultaneously, processing up to 36,000 passengers daily. The terminal boasts advanced technology, including a fully automated baggage handling system designed in partnership with Leonardo, capable of loading 27,000 pieces of luggage each day. It also features a complete biometric journey with digital identity verification for a seamless embarkation experience. Designed by Arquitectonica, the terminal prioritizes energy efficiency and sustainability, incorporating shore-to-ship power connections to eliminate emissions while ships are docked. The inaugural celebration was attended by dignitaries, including Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Group's Cruise Division, and Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and Managing Director of Fincantieri. The terminal aims to set a new benchmark for the cruise industry, offering passengers a unique and efficient embarkation and disembarkation experience, while also strengthening the bond between Italy and the United States. The terminal also features seven curated works of art commissioned through the Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places program.
