Edited by: Anna 🌎 Krasko

The Celtic Exchange programme, initiated by the British-Irish Council, facilitated an exchange for young creative professionals. The aim was to enhance their new media skills and collaboratively produce multilingual content. This initiative also focused on exploring their shared cultural heritage.

Participants journeyed through the Western Isles, engaging with filmmakers, content creators, and musicians. They explored how ancient languages are integral to contemporary creative work. The exchange underscored the linguistic and cultural similarities among the participating groups.

Ifan Prys from Rondo Media highlighted the unique opportunity to connect with other Celtic language content creators. The programme offered diverse activities, including networking with MG ALBA, BBC Alba, and local producers. Bethan Campbell of Boom Cymru described the trip to Scotland as a special experience, emphasizing the value of the activities and the creation of lasting memories.

The young creatives gained hands-on experience by producing multi-lingual content, which premiered at the 2025 Celtic Media Festival in Newquay, Cornwall. Welsh Language Secretary Mark Drakeford emphasized the programme's role in celebrating living languages and supporting young people in building creative careers using their indigenous languages.
