Babel Festival in Cagliari: Celebrating Language, Culture, and Migration

Edited by: Vera Mo

The Babel Festival is returning to Cagliari with its second day of programming. The event includes contemporary literature, live music, and discussions on intercultural themes and social justice. The festival has been a key event for those who believe in the power of words as a tool for inclusion.

A highlight of the festival is the presentation of a book by journalist and writer Gabriele Del Grande. He is known for his work on migration in the Mediterranean. Local cultural workers will moderate the meeting. It will focus on the importance of a conscious narrative of migration routes.

In the afternoon, the festival will host a creative workshop for young people. The workshop will focus on linguistic identity and cultural roots. The space dedicated to children and young people aims to promote intergenerational dialogue. It will also involve families and teachers in a shared educational path.

The day will conclude with a multi-ethnic concert in Piazza Garibaldi. Artists from different parts of the world will perform on stage. They will present hybrid sounds and texts that tell the migrant experience and the meeting of cultures. The initiative is part of the path that the Babel Festival has been pursuing for years. It promotes the meeting between languages, arts, and peoples, with a particular focus on the plurality of points of view.

The complete program is available on the official Babel Festival page. It also offers real-time updates, multimedia content, and insights into the guests of the next days. The event is under the patronage of the Municipality of Cagliari and the Region of Sardinia. It is realized in collaboration with various cultural realities of the territory, including Unica Radio, media partner of the initiative.
