Peru's Minister of Education, Morgan Quero, highlighted the country's progress in enhancing education quality and expanding access to technical and professional secondary education at the World Education Forum in London. The forum served as a platform to share advancements made under President Dina Boluarte's administration with the international community. It also strengthened Peru's relationship with the UK, potentially leading to a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to expand the Bicentennial Schools project and facilitate student and teacher exchanges. Minister Quero emphasized the link between improving education quality, access to technical secondary education, and the Social Pact for Education. The government is also focused on valuing teachers by increasing salaries and providing ongoing training programs. Teacher salaries have increased by 34.6% since 2022, with approximately 75% of public sector teachers belonging to the Public Teaching Career after meritocratic processes. During the forum, Minister Quero held bilateral meetings to strengthen international cooperation. Discussions included potential partnerships with UK agencies for validating university and institute credits, enabling Peruvian students to pursue internships or exchanges in the UK. The forum facilitated discussions on key roles of education in promoting personal development, strengthening communities, and fostering national progress.
