Peel District School Board and Toronto Metropolitan University Launch Healthcare Program for Secondary Students

Edited by: Olga Samsonova

The Peel District School Board (PDSB) and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) have partnered to launch the "Future of Healthcare" program. This initiative aims to provide 25 secondary students with a university-level learning experience. The program focuses on building a more just and equitable healthcare system.

The inaugural course, "Equity in the Future of Healthcare," will begin on September 17, 2025. This 13-week course will serve as a weekly co-op placement for students. It will explore health equity and inequity through case studies and academic frameworks.

Students will explore healthcare fields like nursing, medicine, and public health. They will participate in guest lectures and hands-on activities. The program aims to prepare the next generation of health sector leaders. This initiative aligns with TMU's commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and access.
