Why does the soul (or Higher Self) need incarnation in a body? What does the body give it?

Initially, look at this topic as an extension of the Soul, rather than as a separate experience. That is, for example, fingers are an extension of the hand, and the hand is an extension of the body. The functions of fingers are understood as parts of the body, not as separate entities or something existing for its own reasons. And just as fingers cannot sell out (betray, deceive...) the body, so a person does not betray the Soul in anything.

So, incarnation is an opportunity for the Non-physical soul to receive sensations. Smells, emotions, tastes... all of this remains a "hypothesis" without the physics of the body. The Soul simply has no other mechanism to experience itself in any way except through the body. Let's say a hypothetical H2O has no option to be an ocean, a river, a lake, or rain if there is no physical field with the appropriate conditions. H2O will simply be a water molecule formula if it does not receive a "physical incarnation."

It is the same with the human personality. Additionally, with the human body, many accompanying stories, diverse emotional adventures, and the emergence of a myriad of various event branches arise for the Soul to study Itself.
