Das National Museum of Ireland präsentiert das Lough Kinale Objekt, einen bedeutenden irischen Buchschrein aus dem 9. Jahrhundert, als Herzstück der Ausstellung 'Worte auf der Welle'. Die Ausstellung wurde am 30. Mai 2025 eröffnet und läuft bis zum 24. Oktober 2025. Sie beleuchtet Irlands wichtige kulturelle Beiträge zum frühen Mittelalter Europas.

Dieses Artefakt wurde 1986 in Lough Kinale, County Longford, entdeckt und ist einer von nur acht erhaltenen irischen Zierbehältern für heilige Manuskripte. Seine außergewöhnliche Erhaltung ermöglicht es den Besuchern, komplizierte Details zu würdigen, darunter ein Kreuz, Medaillons und Scharniere in Form von Schlangenköpfen.

Nach 39 Jahren sorgfältiger Konservierung ist dieses bemerkenswerte Stück irischen Erbes nun der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Die Ausstellung 'Worte auf der Welle' zeigt 17 mittelalterliche Manuskripte und über 100 Artefakte und bietet einen umfassenden Einblick in Irlands kulturellen Einfluss im Mittelalter.
