Commercial Space Federation Rebrands to Reflect Broader Industry Focus and Launches New Initiatives

Washington, D.C, December 3, 2024. The Commercial Space Federation (CSF) has announced a rebranding from its previous title, the Commercial Spaceflight Federation, to better represent the diverse membership and rapid growth of the commercial space sector.

CSF, based in Washington, D.C., serves as the primary advocate for the commercial space industry, engaging with U.S. Congress and the Administration. The organization aims to foster growth, innovation, and investment in the U.S. commercial space landscape.

To enhance its advocacy, CSF has established six new industry councils focusing on key areas: Launch & Reentry, Commercial Low-Earth Orbit (LEO), Space Exploration, Spaceports & Infrastructure, Remote Sensing & Analytics, and Satellite & Space Situational Awareness (SSA).

CSF President Dave Cavossa emphasized the importance of this rebrand, stating, "The commercial space sector has already supported and driven success for scientific and national security missions in the U.S. and abroad, and it is more important than ever to drive the continued growth of this critical industry."

The organization is also launching the Integrate, Compete, and Unleash initiative, which focuses on three principles: maximizing reliance on domestic commercial space solutions, promoting competitive procurement practices, and advocating for the reduction of unnecessary regulations.

Additionally, CSF is forming the Commercial Space Political Action Committee (PAC) to enhance the industry's visibility and influence among lawmakers who support policies benefiting the commercial space sector.

Founded in 2006, CSF has evolved alongside the commercial space industry, aiming to represent all aspects of the sector, including launch and re-entry, space exploration, remote sensing, and satellite services.
