Tesla Unveils Affordable Cybercab and Robovan

Tesla CEO Elon Musk introduced the Cybercab, a fully autonomous vehicle expected to cost under US$30,000, during the We, Robot event in California.

The Cybercab features no steering wheel or pedals, utilizing inductive charging instead of traditional plugs. It is designed for high utilization, aiming to operate as a taxi service when not in personal use.

Musk anticipates production will start before 2027, with plans to implement unsupervised self-driving capabilities in the Model 3 and Model Y by next year in California and Texas.

Additionally, Tesla showcased the Robovan, capable of carrying up to 20 passengers or goods. Details on pricing and production timelines for the Robovan remain unspecified.

Musk emphasized that these autonomous vehicles could significantly enhance safety, claiming they would be 10-30 times safer than human drivers.
